Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is a member of over 50 international Organisations and has over 200 partners consolidated by international projects. The University implements many international projects under different funding programmes: COST, FRAMEWORK 7, EUREKA, has participated in programmes FRAMEWORK 5, FRAMEWORK 6, INTERREG IIIB, PHARE. The adjustment of curriculum development to labour market requirements and quality assurance of study process are the main priorities in the development plan of VGTU. For that purpose close cooperation, with national and international study assessment bodies (NARIC, Ministry of Education and Science, social partners), is maintained.
The university is a participant of the EU-Korea, EU-ALFA3 and the EU-Asia link projects. In 2006 the institution has been awarded the ECTS label and in 2007 the E – Quality Label of European National Agencies. VGTU is a holder of the Diploma Supplement label (2009-2013).
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is one of the biggest universities in Lithuania. The total number of students in the academic year 2010/2011 is 14 024. Researchers and academic staff total in 973 persons, including 149 professors, 456 associate professors, and 366 lecturers and assistants. Professor-student ratio is 1:14.

  • Faculties of Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Electronics, Fundamental Sciences, Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Business Management as well as “Antanas Gustaitis” Aviation Institute and Institute of Humanities;
  • 10 research institutes (Architecture, Environment Protection, Geodesy, Internet and Intelligent Technologies, Labour Safety, Open Source, Territorial Planning, Transport, Welding and Materials Science, Innovatory Scientific Institute of Special Structures);
  • 19 research laboratories (Aviation, Bioinformatics, Building Physics, Buildings, Constructions and Materials, Business Planning and Environment Economics, Calibration, Construction Technology and Management, Environment Protection and Working Conditions, Geotechnical Engineering, High Magnetic Fields, Information Systems, Material Physics, Nuclear Hydrophysics, Numerical Modelling, Parallel Computations, Roads and Road safety, Strength Mechanics, Urban Analysis, Vibroacoustic and Diagnostics);
  • 3 research centres (Property Valuation, Science Research and Telecommunications).
